Research
& Projects
Research
is focused on various aspects of modelling and control of internal combustion
engines. Cylinder pressure based methods play a central part.
Feedback
control of Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) combustion using
cylinder pressure for feedback is a recent topic, where the control problem
consists of preparing a homogeneous charge such that compression ignition
takes place at the desired crank angle. Real-time heat release analysis
of the cylinder pressure trace provides quantitative feedback about ignition
timing.
